PHILADELPHIA, PA – December 11, 2012 – Core Learning announced today the formation of a new global publishing and distribution arrangement with Cambridge-Hitachi of the United Kingdom. The first cooperative publishing venture will involve the organization and publication of a large library of math word problems that will support teachers and aid students in attaining the learning objectives in the Common Core Math Standards.
The licensed materials include approximately 4,000 math word problems and supporting information. Core Learning plans to organize and align the question sets to K-8 Common Core Math standards and will add guidance on how to interpret and solve math word problems. The new co-branded program will be in web-based and network-based versions and the program can be accessed from computers and mobile devices like tablets and smartphones.
“We are very pleased to have been selected by Cambridge-Hitachi to partner with them on bringing important technology-based learning solutions to the education market,” stated Doug Hatch, President & CEO of Core Learning. “Cambridge University Press is the world’s oldest educational publisher and while we have had a distribution relationship with them for several years via the Global Grid for Learning, this is the first publishing relationship. We feel there is great potential in transforming their excellent content into leading edge technology-based programs. Creating a program with instruction and assessments on math word problems is a great place to start and the new program will be an excellent complement our current math solutions for elementary and middle schools.”
